My last week
Where can I start to talk about his week? I have seen a lot of places and meet even more people. Let me start on Monday.
I have been to Berlin! Visiting the capital of Germany is always a big adventure and it was the big reunion with Maria.
Monday: We went out to explore the city. We were especially interested in the ‘Free Walking Tour’. It is about the alternative parts of the city. Maybe it bares a slight irony in itself. Can it be alternative when you have a tourist tour visiting it?
In the night we went to a music concert of Kendrick Lamar.
Tuesday: We did our own little sightseeing tour through Berlin. We have been to a big garden and I tried to walk on the ice. Next to the park was a small brewery where we enjoyed a beer and a Brezel. During the day we even saw the embassy of North Korea and the Bulgarian embassy. In the evening we managed to visit the Bundestag in Berlin. Even though it started to rain and was incredible windy. In the night we had to say goodbye to the city and take our plains.
Wednesday: I managed to land with the plain in Bucharest. It was not difficult to take the airplane from Berlin to Bucharest. The real adventure is public transport in Romania. It took me nearly three hours to travel through the city. After finding my destination I could start with hitchhiking. It is fairly easy to do in Romania. My actual plan was to cross the Donau and travel back to Razlog. BUT….. nothing went as planned. In the end I had to stay for a night in a Hotel in a village. There I decided to travel directly to Warna for the weekend.
Thursday: I spent the whole day trying to catch a driver. At one point a woman took me with her and I had coffee with cheese with her grandparents. They even gave me a small bottle of Rakia. Over the course of the day I did arrive in Varna.
We cooked Erbseneintopf and saw a movie. 7
Friday: My host had to work. Nonetheless he showed my around and we had Falafel with hummus for breakfast. The rest of the day I was at the beach. Counting the sand and watching the sea. This night we went early to bed, because we had a long day ahead.
Saturday: We got up and went to the train station. Both of us got accepted to be judges on a debate event in Dobrich. Young people from all over Bulgaria attended this event. The event was organized by an American NGO, which is teaching English here in Bulgaria. It was a really stressful event. I have never been a judge on such an event and now I was thrown into the cold water. The participants made prosa about their personal life. They talked about bullying, hitting puberty and falling in love for the first time. At some point it felt more like a group therapy then an prosa event. During the day I had to chance to talk with more people, who had more experience in judging on such events. I now got better understanding on what to look out for and what is important. On midday we had a big lunch with Pizza and Coca Cola. I have never eaten so much Pizza in my life. Again I went early to bed for travelling back to Razlog.
Sunday: I got up at 4 a.m. and started my journey. Travelling with bus and train can become really boring. After spending more than 12 hours on the road I arrived in Razlog!
